The Racing Foundation, in association with the British Horseracing Authority, Thoroughbred Breeders Association, National Association of Racing Staff and National Trainers Federation, have commissioned a survey of trainers, racing staff and stud staff regarding recruitment, skills and retention in the racing and thoroughbred breeding industries.
The surveys were conducted by Public Perspectives, an independent research and evaluation organisation.
The surveys, conducted in 2024, was the fourth in a series following baseline studies in 2016 and 2017. The surveys are a tool to measure of the effectiveness of industry intervention in the areas of recruitment, skills and retention and provides the racing and thoroughbred breeding industries with up-to-date and comprehensive quantitative information and business intelligence to help inform future decision making.
The research has played a key role in informing the industry-wide people strategy currently being developed by the Horseracing Industry People Board.
